DUBLIN ARRIVAL,MEET MICHAEL IN HIS HOME TOWN, WEXFORD WALKING TOUR & WATERFRONT DINING
After landing at Dublin Airport, complete customs, and immigration formalities. Your CIE Tours driver/guide will welcome you to Ireland and escort you and your luggage to the coach.
Our first stop on your Ireland with Michael tour is breakfast! Enjoy a warm Irish welcome and hearty spread at a local restaurant or pub while becoming acquainted with your fellow travelers. After your meal it’s onto Michael’s hometown of Wexford, tucked away in Ireland’s Ancient East, this cultural coastal town dates to Viking times and is in the sunny southeast of the country. Michael himself will meet you in Wexford. We’ll set off with a local guide and good friend of Michael, for a gentle walking tour of the town, through its winding medieval streets and along the river Slaney to see the bright, colorful buildings, perched on the water’s edge. We’ll hear about the world of medieval ports, bloody insurrections ghostly graveyards and cavernous churches! On the way we will pass the famous bull ring, historic 12th century Selskar Abbey, the Theatre Royal and of course the famous town walls. We’ll drive a short distance to the internationally renowned 4-star Ferrycarraig Hotel, nestled in one of Ireland’s most inspiring locations, providing sweeping views across the River Slaney. Check in and soak in the peaceful setting before dinner in the hotel restaurant. Reeds Restaurant has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes for 7 years in a row, has been named best hotel restaurant in Wexford and listed in the top 5 restaurants in Leinster by the Restaurant Association of Ireland. Michael loves the breakfasts here. The stunning riverfront restaurant prides itself on delivering excellent, locally sourced produce, prepared, presented with amazing creativity by a top-class culinary team.

HOOK HEAD & JOHNSTOWN CASTLE
This morning, after breakfast, a short drive will take us to the oldest working lighthouse in the world. The Hook lighthouse is the perfect spot for a social media photograph with the iconic black and white tower and the dangerous rocks below as a backdrop. Learn just how old the lighthouse is and climb to the top for a spectacular view. We will stop here for a cuppa before heading to the other side of the Hook Peninsula. Check out the beautiful footage of the Hook Lighthouse when Michael interviews NY Times bestselling author and creator of Artemis Fowl, Eoin Colfer in Season #1 of Ireland with Michael.
A short drive takes us to the Johnstown Castle and Estate where Michael played as a child. Get a glimpse of gentry life inside the castle or take a stroll around the castle lake to view the renowned gardens with plants from all over the world. You can also peruse the extensive displays in the Agricultural Museum giving a glimpse of rural life through the years, in Ireland.
After our visit, we return to our hotel in Wexford and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Feel free to indulge in the leisure center which boasts exceptional facilities and an award-winning spa. In the evening, we will have a little musical treat for you all in the hotel before dinner., a private concert with you as the VIP. You may choose to dine in one of the many restaurants or pubs that Wexford has to offer or dine at the hotel and have a pint afterward. – It’s up to you!

WATERFORD GLASS AND A PALACE
After breakfast, we leave for Cork City, However, on the way we will make a quick stop up the road in Waterford city to view the county’s biggest ambassador, Waterford Crystal. See up close, how the master craftspeople create these glass masterpieces and maybe bring something home with you as a souvenir of your trip. Continue your exploration with a visit to the Bishop's Palace. This beautifully furnished museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Georgian-era Ireland, with numerous artifacts and exhibits that tell the story of the period.
Onward to the Rebel County of Cork. Known as the Texas of Ireland as it is our biggest county but also because its people like think that Cork is its own republic. We head to the capital, Cork City where awaits our resplendent hotel the River Lee awaits. Modern elegance with comfortable rooms and ultra modern facilities. The hotel is right on the doorsteps of this town’s best pubs and restaurants and tonight you can sample a few nightspots, independently. Don’t worry, we will point you in the right direction.

BLARNEY & BEVERAGES
We start the day after a big breakfast, up the toad in Midleton, a town in east Cork and home to Midleton Distilleries, responsible for making some of the finest whiskeys on the planet. You get to take an emersive tour on how they make the best and even better, you get to taste of it then have the option to bring some home with you. Now, everyone know’s that kissing the Blarney Stone gives you the gift of the gab however what you don’t know is that the Blarney estate some of the most diverse, sumptuous gardens in Ireland. Climb the castle to kiss the stone or simply wander the gorgeous gardens with a different theme around every corner..
We then embark on a scenic journey to the beautiful famed town of Killarney. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and take some time to relax and unwind. You might want to explore the charming local shops or take a peaceful stroll through the stunning national park, located right in the center of town. Enjoy a delightful dinner together in the hotel restaurant, where you can savor a variety of delicious local dishes. This is a perfect opportunity to share your experiences from the day and make plans for the days ahead.

THE MAGICAL VIEWS OF KERRY
Begin your day by exploring over 100 miles of Ireland’s most stunning and picturesque scenery. Drive along the famous Ring of Kerry, making plenty of photo stops to capture the breathtaking views of dramatic mountains, sweeping vistas leading to glimmering lakes. Don't forget to take in the charming villages and lush green landscapes that dot the journey. Continue your adventure with a visit to Ladies' View, a viewpoint named after Queen Victoria's ladies-in-waiting, offering sweeping panoramic landscapes. Michael visits here in Season 5 of Ireland with Michael coming to PBS in Jan 2025. Proceed to Moll's Gap, a spectacular mountain pass with stunning views of the Macgillycuddy's Reeks. Conclude your afternoon with a visit to the historic Muckross House and gardens, where you can stroll through beautifully manicured grounds and take a guided tour of the Victorian mansion.
We get back to Killarney mid afternoon and our hotel is in the heart of the town, steps away from shopping, charming cafes and excellent restaurants to enjoy your free evening. There are plenty of pubs with live music in walking distance to enjoy some of Killarney’s famous nightlife.

KILKENNY CATS, CRAFTS AND CASTLES
Depart Killarney and head towards Ireland’s Ancient East. Begin your tour with a visit to the majestic Kilkenny Castle, a symbol of the city's rich history. Explore the beautifully maintained formal and informal gardens, perfect for a leisurely stroll. Don't miss a visit to the Kilkenny Design Center just across the road, where you can admire and purchase unique Irish crafts and designs. Below, Michael introduces us to the castle, in the heart of his father’s birthplace, the city of Kilkenny, home to the Kilkenny Cats, as their football and hurling teams are called.
After lunch, head to Malzards Pub for an immersive hurling experience. Learn about the ancient Celtic sport of hurling, its rules, and its significance in Irish culture. Get hands-on and try your skills with guidance from experienced players. Enjoy the evening at your own pace. Take the opportunity to sightsee around Kilkenny, shop for souvenirs, and dine at one of the many charming local restaurants. Explore the vibrant nightlife (very vibrant!) or simply relax at the hotel on the banks of the River More, right opposite the castle and soak in the ambiance of this historic city.

All too soon, your vacation has come to its final day. Transfer to Dublin Airport in good time to check in for your flight. You may do some last-minute shopping at the duty-free stores before boarding your aircraft and flying back to the United States.
